 About

IMG_1512.JPG

I started playing violin as a three year old, learning through Suzuki Method with Ramona Stirling. I played through my teen years and eventually decided that I would study violin in college. I graduated cum laude in 2020 and set to work becoming a part of the Cache Valley teaching community. I served in the Cache Valley String Festival Presidency from 2021-2024, first as Vice President and then President. I have now been teaching for 10 years. I enjoy playing with the Logan River Quartet and American Festival Chorus and Orchestra

I love getting to work with young people every day. I think each student has something unique and beautiful to offer the world. One of my favorite things is getting to help them learn to confront challenges positively, become good "noticers", and learn how to work collaboratively with others. My hope for my students is that they learn to appreciate beauty around them and learn to share it with others. My favorite thing about Suzuki Method is the chance it gives parents and children a chance to strengthen their relationship and the focus on positive encouragement.

Beyond music, I love being with my family. I have two small kids, one who is about to start violin. I'm excited to learn what it's like to be on the parent side of lessons. I also enjoy running and reading.

Education

2014-2020

Bachelor of Music, Violin Performance
Utah State University

I loved my time studying at Utah State with Robert Waters and the Fry Street Quartet. During my time at Utah State, I served as concertmistress of the USU Symphony Orchestra. I was also chosen as a winner of the 2017 USU Concerto Competition. My senior year I received an Undergraduate Rearch and Creative Opportunities Grant which allowed me to commission an original string quartet and put on a performance.
